You cannot keep the basic health insurance
If you are going to live and work abroad, in most cases you cannot keep your Dutch basic insurance. Do you have the basic insurance from ONVZ? Then please contact us for more information about your personal situation. Before you leave for abroad, you must cancel the basic insurance. You can do this as soon as you know when you are moving.
Do you want to cancel the basic insurance with us? Then we need the following documents:
- Proof of termination of employment in the Netherlands (if applicable)
- Proof of employment abroad (if applicable)
Based on your information, we will determine the end date of your insurance. You will receive a confirmation of this. In your new country of residence, you can apply for health insurance.
Your family members
If your family members move with you, they will also lose the right to basic insurance. In most cases, they can apply for health insurance in the new country of residence.
